So.
Rick and I have been out for five weeks and a day now without going through or even near home. It's time for us to go home and visit the fams, nab kitty, do a shit-ton of laundry, and relax for a few days. So last week we sent a request for a day off. They had to have 9 days in advance so we just planned to have three days off which happened to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Well today is Thursday, and where are we now? Still in Illinois, taking a load to- Texas.
Um, last I checked we lived in Utah...
They supposedly don't have any loads heading to Salt Lake City right now. Wasn't that the point of us sending in that request 9 days in advance????
And to add insult to injury, we would have had a load taking us to Sarasota, Florida a few days ago. I would have been able to see my grandparents most likely. But no. No grandparents, no family, no kitty.
So if a storm hits Salt Lake coming from the East to the West side, that would be my frustration with the whole clusterfuck here making it's way to the company, which happens to be based in Salt Lake.
I guess there's a tiny bit of consolation; we ran out of oil so Rick had to use him company card to buy some. It was expensive. Usually we get oil at the company's terminal for free but ha they had to pay for this stuff. Suckas!
I'm gonna make a post about winter safety and some driving tips, Rick thinks it's stuff people should know and I agree. So it will be a post we worked on together!
Until next time,
Lola and Rick
Wow. This really blows. I was looking forward to seeing you both and causing you trouble. Maybe it's a good thing, could they re-route you for next week and have you home for Thanksgiving? That would be REALLY cool. And the driving stuff??? Yeah, people are crazy drivers, and it's going to snow Sunday and Monday. So those will be good tips. Good ol' Monday Morning Commute!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah they said they would try to route us home for Thanksgiving but we will see. Bunch of weinerheads I tell ya. Argh :)
